I continue to visit Stacey, and I marvel at her strength and spirit. She is responding well to therapy, can sit on the side of her bed, stand on her "non-broken" leg, tell stories, smile, and laugh. She is stronger every time I see her, and she looks great. It is hard to believe that just under 3 weeks ago she was in ICU. She continues to be amazing. I encourage you to stop in for a visit, as it is hard to be away from home, work, and friends. The address is:

Kindred Rehab Center
300 Windy Hill Drive
Lafayette, Indiana 47906

And you can visit any time, but I have found that late morning she is not in her room due to her rehab schedule.

Yesterday, I was holding her had and she teared up and thanked me for holding her hand. Gentry is going to stop by and do her nails in pink, which was Stacey's request.

I know that Tim could use support as well. He has been by Stacey's side through the entire ordeal.

Visited Stacey in the recovery center and she was talking, eating, smiling, and doing really well considering what she went through less than two weeks ago. She is tough and we miss her. Received a picture from Tim earlier this morning of her sitting in a wheel chair, they might even get to take her outside today. Rumor has it that Olive can visit her. I took Yang's Monkey in today and got a big smile from Stacey. Keep sending those well wishes and visit her if you have time.

Yesterday Stacey was moved to a rehabilitation center. Tim says visitation is 24 hours. The center is called "Kinder" and it is off Old 231 and Sawmill Road. Address is 300 Windy Hill Drive, Lafayette. Room 204.

Good news today. Matt arrived and visited, shortly after, Tim met with the doctors and they have upgraded Stacey's condition. Stacey was moved out of ICU today. She is still At St. Elizabeth East, but now she is in room 3S20. Assuming she continues to make such good progress, she will transfer to a rehab center early next week. Friend power!

Visited Stacey this morning. Tim is still sleeping in a chair in her ICU room. Brought coffee and fruit. She looks better each day. According to Tim they has used a lifting devise to sit her in a chair for a couple of hours the past two days. She is managing her pain with fewer meds and is interactive. She is eating and drinking and working to regain her memory. Expect her to be in ICU for another week or two.

More updates to follow

I just came from the hospital, and Stacey was working the GERI Giraffe "Lucky" over with her right hand. She also gave me a light squeeze with her LEFT hand and she wiggled her LEFT toes. Very good news. She is alert, talking, eating, and healing. They are working on identifying a rehab center, and I will keep everyone posted concerning which center they choose and when she is well enough for discharge from the hospital and transfer to rehab. Thank you to all for your continued support.

Tim texted and said that Stacey was able to sit up for an hour and a half. Progress continues!

The word from IUC is good! Stacey was awake and interactive when I visited this morning. Fewer pain meds, cream of wheat for breakfast, orange juice, and water to drink.  She is talking some. I took her a GERI Giraffe stress ball to squeeze and got a big smile from her. Her color is good, and I understand that in addition to a wave and thumbs up, she has a couple of other hand signals including a one-fingered wave--all in good humor, of course. I feel her coming back to us, but as a reminder her injuries are very serious, so if you visit, use hand sanitizer and keep your visit short so she can rest.

Matt arrives tomorrow, I know this will lift her spirits.

Kristina is taking Pizza for Tim tonight. Since his mom left, we are making sure he eats!

We have created this blog to update everyone who is concerned about Stacey's recovery.
She is currently in the ICU at:

St. Elizabeth East Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health
Lafayette East Campus
1701 South Creasy Lane
Lafayette, IN 47905

...for anyone who wants to send a card. Flowers are not allowed in the ICU.

Stacey is making progress, yesterday she gave us thumbs up and took a sip of Sprite. She is very tired, but has recognized her visitors. Tim is staying with her in the ICU. I bring him coffee and sandwiches, because I am afraid he isn't eating!

She is facing weeks of rehabilitation

I will try to provide regular updates. Please keep her in your thoughts.
